Group phase of the European Championship, Division C, Group B has ended without any loss for Kosovo.

On Wednesday, Kosovo U16 has defeated Wales 74:35 (25:5, 23:2, 16:17, 10:11).

Before the game against Kosovo, Wales had two victories in a row, against Monaco and Gibraltar.

Our guys started furious against Wales and this is proved best by the results of the first two quarters, 25: 5, 23: 2, while in the last two quarters, the selector of U16 NT, Chris Dial, gave every player a chance to play in order for all of them to experience the excitement of this very important event of youth categories in FIBA.

The most efficient players were Etnik Peci with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists and Kreshnik Avdija with 14 points and 6 rebounds.

After the match, the American coach, Chris Dial said “I am very happy that our hard work was paid off with the first place in group. The guys did a great job, they played very good, they wanted to win and more importantly they loved the jersey that they were wearing. They are aware of the importance of the competition that they are on. Now is the turn of the semifinals and once we learn who will be our opponent we will start to train maximally in order for us to overcome this challenge successfully. It won’t be easy but we will do our best and hope for a positive result”.

Basketball player of the U16 NT of Kosovo, Kreshnik Avdija said: “We played well from the beginning ‘til the end of the game, but we know that we can do better. Once again, we have proved that we came to San Marino to play quality basketball and not only to show up. Now we want to stay calm and think about the Friday’s semifinals, where we promise that we will play good. Our biggest wish is to play in the finals, so we will do our best to achieve that”.

In the semifinals, Kosovo U16 will play against the second place of Group A, Division C.

Kosovo’s next opponent will be San Marino or Malta, depends on which of these teams will lose in tonight’s game.
