The National Team of Kosovo was defeated by Austria, in the last game of the second phase of the European Championship U20, Division B, in Hungary. Kosovo played its weakest offense game ever, without ever scoring in its attempts for a three pointer and missing 6 out of 18 free throws. However, the defense commitment and the absence of two Austrian players, gave Kosovo an opportunity to win. But, the precision of the Austrian team and the fifth lost ball of Leonard Mekaj took away the chance for extra time. Kosovo will end up third in group. Tomorrow, Kosovo will play against Switzerland for the 13th or 14th place.
After the game, the selector for the NT U20 of Kosovo, Ilir Selmani said: “I believe that we have failed in basic aspects of the game. This was our worst offensive game ever and I don’t have a rational explanation for that, because Austria’s offense game was not of a high level. However, I hope that we will win our last game against Switzerland and we will leave the championship with honor”.
