Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr. Kujtim Shala met with a delegation of Kosovo Basketball Federation, led by President of KBF, Mr. Erolld Belegu.
Minister Shala congratulated KBF on its affiliation to FIBA considering this event the greatest news for Kosovo since Kosovo Olympic Committee’s membership in the International Olympic Committee.
Minister Shala congratulated Mr. Belegu and promised to give full support to KBF for the competitions of international character.
President of KBF, Mr. Erolld Belegu presented four main requests with strategic character for KBF - Support for the High Performance Centre, which will begin work this month, political support for Sponsorship Law which is currently in the discussion stage and the voice of federations and clubs should be more powerful in these discussions, support on building a sports hall with European standards for international competitions and build smaller sport halls in different municipalities.
Minister Shala promised full support for the High Performance Centre project and participation of Youth Categories in European Competitions. Regarding sport infrastructure, Minister Shala stated that until the end of his mandate, many small sport halls with multiple functions will be build, meanwhile, the discussions with Prishtina’s Municipality to determine the location for the construction of a sports hall with international norms have already begun.
KBF is waiting for a confirmation on which group-ages can compete this year in the European Championships for Youth Categories in basketball, to be held during the summer and which will mark the first official representation of Kosovo, in representations level.
